PROJECT

MY ROLE

This project was a requirement for MGMT 115 Lean Startup. Over the course of 10 weeks, teams of five were tasked to come up with a minimum viable product. The duration of this project took place during COVID-19 and therefore we had limitations on our user research. We were not able to physically test our app. The full business plan for our product can be found here

Although team members were not formally assigned roles, I served as the team's product designer and was fully responsible for designing the app. During this project, I also set goals, conducted weekly meetings, and kept the team on track.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Drivers wast time driving around the various parking lots on UC Irvine's campus looking for a parking space.

OUR SOLUTION

A smart parking sensor system that helps drivers easily locate vacant parking spaces and is connected to an app thats shows the vacant parking spaces in each parking on UCI's campus. Our goal is to help drivers quickly locate vacant parking spaces

(STUDENTS & FACULTY)

CUSTOMERS

(THE UNIVERSITY)

FindMe Parking improves the flow of traffic, lowering the amount of car accident on campus and decreasing problems with neighboring communities (UTC). The system also improves student and faculty satisfaction.

MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT

Smart parking sensor system that indicates the vacancy of each parking space.

HYPOTHESIS TESTING

HYPOTHESIS

Users of the app (B) will be more satisfied with UCI parking than non users (A).

FINDINGS

Group B's ratings were higher than Group A's ratings, the time spent looking for parking decreased. The increase in ratings indicate that users of the app will be more satisfied with UCI parking than non-users

BIAS

Due to the pandemic, Group B was not actually able to use the app while parking. Participants did not include faculty or graduate students.

FINAL DESIGN

To cater to the University and the users, we wanted the design to look clean and professional. Blue is associated with knowledge, trustworthiness, and professionalism. We also added green which is associated with relaxation and honesty.
